Thomas Bayrle

Thomas Bayrle and Clemens en August - Agnus Dei 1967, by Samuel Barber

For the presentation in Berlin's
Palais am Festungsgraben on 9 July 2014,
Alexander Brenninkmeijer worked with the artist Thomas Bayrle to design a concept for the vast rooms with their lofty ceilings.

A trained weaver whose work has continually exposed the principles of texture and seriality since the 1960s, Bayrle's murals transformed the location.

The rhythmic intervention of an Agnus Dei from a Gregorian chant set to the beats of various industrial machines elevated the fashion show to an audio-visual experience.
